Trial Balance

Reports → Trial Balance. This is the accountant's checksum — every account in one list, and the two grand totals (debits and credits) must be exactly equal. You will rarely read it for fun; you will be asked for it. When your accountant says "send me the TB", this page is what they mean.

The Trial Balance — every account, debits equal credits

It runs on open. Each account shows three pairs of columns:

ColumnsMeaning
Opening DR / CRThe balance before the period started
Period DR / CRActivity within the period
Closing DR / CRWhere the account stands at the period's end

Seri Maju's row-by-row: the bank opened at 10,000 and closed at 15,000 (the capital arriving in between), Account Receivable grew by the 200 invoice, Inventory fell by the 80 of goods sold. And at the bottom, the totals agree — they always will, because every entry in this app posts both sides at once.

Two controls worth knowing:

  • Periods → Add period — put several periods side by side (each adds its own column trio) to see accounts move month over month.
  • Show zero-balance accounts — off by default; on, it lists every account in the chart even if untouched.

Like every report page, Run reads the live books and Saved Snapshots keeps frozen copies — the pattern is explained in Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet.
